Professional Titles Conferred On Marketing Institute Members
Honorary fellows, Fellows, Ordinary members and Associate members of the Institute who have marketing qualifications recognised by the Institute and the required number of years of relevant experience in executive positions are being accorded the professional designatory titles FMIS (Hon), FMIS, MMIS and AMIS respectively. The titles serve to recognise and to strengthen the professional status of these members. |
Honorary Fellow (FMIS (HON))
Honorary Fellow status (FMIS (Hon)) is conferred by the Executive Council on distinguished individuals or individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of marketing. To date, the Institute has conferred Honorary Fellow status on 26 outstanding marketers from all over the world. They include
- The renowned marketing guru and author of marketing books, Professor Philip Kotler, who is also the S C Johnson and Son Distinguished Professor of International Marketing at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, USA;
- Dr Michio Torii, Vice-Chairman of Suntory Limited, Japan, and President of the Japan Marketing Association;
- Mr. Stan Shih, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, The Acer Group, Taiwan;
- Mr. Philip Yeo, Chairman, Spring Singapore;
- Mr. Chandra S Das, Chairman, NTUC FairPrice Co-operative Ltd;
- Mr. Ridzwan Hj Dzafir, Chairman, Malay Heritage Foundation and a member of the Council of Presidential Advisers;
- Dr Wong Yip Yan, Group Chairman, Wywy Group of Companies, Singapore;
- Professor Tommy Koh, Ambassador-At-Large, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Director, Institute of Policy Studies;
- Mr Ron Sim, Founder and CEO, OSIM International;

Fellow (FMIS)
Fellow status (FMIS) is conferred by the Executive Council on Ordinary members who have achieved eminence in the practice of marketing management.
Members who have achieved Marketing Institute Fellow status include high profile players in various industries like Mr Kwek Leng Joo, Managing Director of City Development Ltd and Mr Allen J Pathmarajah, Senior Advisor of Global Brand Forum.
Ordinary Member (MMIS)
Any Singaporean, permanent resident or foreign citizen with more than 3 years of working or business experience in marketing or any other related business disciplines or has at least a diploma (or equivalent) in marketing or any other related disciplines shall be eligible to be Ordinary Members of the Institute.
Affiliate Member (AMIS)
Affiliate membership shall be opened to any person, who at the time of
Application, is unable to satisfy the conditions of Ordinary membership. Affiliate
membership shall be opened to individuals who, at the time of application, are
taking or proposing to take an approved course of study and whose applications
are acceptable by the Institute.
