Graduate Diploma in Business Management (Full-time)



Introduction


The Graduate Diploma in Business Management (GDBM) programme has been designed to prepare students to achieve a business organisation's sustainable strategic advantage and maintain its effectiveness. It aims to develop critical thinking, problem solving and decision skills that are used in managing a successful business and to work effectively with different organisations and cultures.


The programme is of particular interest to people aspiring to middle level managerial roles in large organisations and for those who have a leadership role in smaller organisations. It will also benefit small business owners or entrepreneurs who need the know-how in managing a profitable business.


Programme Objective


This programme provides an in-depth focus on the key business management functions and allows for the acquisition of specialist functional skills and knowledge.

This is a 6-month full-time programme consisting of 6 modules which will be delivered over two semesters:

This programme involves lectures, group discussions, case studies and presentations by students. Classes are usually held four to six times a week from 9.30am to 12.30pm, and/or from 2.00pm – 5.00pm on weekdays with a total of 36 contact hours per module. Weekly lectures are conducted by qualified and experienced local lecturers approved by the Institute.


Examinations & Assessment


All students are required to sit for a written examination for each modules at the end of each semester. Students must fulfil the attendance requirement of at least 75% for each module before they are considered eligible to take the end-of-semester examinations.

 

Candidate will be allowed to sit for the supplementary examination(s) for the module(s) that they have failed in the main examination. However, a supplementary examination fee of S53.50 (incl. 7% GST) per module is applicable.

 

To repeat a failed module, a student must attend classes and pay a repeat fee of S$583.15 (incl. 7% GST) per module and attend classes before he/she is considered eligible to take the examination.

 

Students may repeat any single module up to a maximum of two times. However, the student must complete the GDBM programme within three years from the intake he/she is registered in.

 

All examination questions and the marking of scripts will be moderated and/or examined by the institute's Board of Studies before they are released to students. The decision of the Board is final and no correspondence will be entertained.

 


Award of Certificate


Students who paid all the necessary fees and passed all examinations shall be awarded the Graduate Diploma in Business Management and be allowed to use the designatory letters “ Grad Dip B M ” after their names.

The course fees cover course materials and lesson delivery by local tutors and DO NOT include textbooks and other miscellaneous charges, if any. Payment by instalments is available subject to approval on a case by case basis. An additional one-time administration fee for instalment payment is also chargeable at S$350.00 .


A non-refundable application processing fee of S$300.00 (subject to prevailing GST rate) is chargeable upon application and submission of documents. Upon successful application, a one-time administrative fee of S$600.00 (subject to prevailing GST rate) is payable.


MIS Membership


The Marketing Institute of Singapore is a professional body for sales and marketing practitioners. All successful applicants must be individual members of the Institute.

Changes & Amendments


The Marketing Institute of Singapore Training Centre reserves the right to vary, change and amend the module content, entry requirements, course fees, curriculum, examination rules and regulations, lecturers, lecture date, venue and other aspects of the course at any time prior to and during the delivery of the modules.
