The Certificate in Sales and Marketing (CSM) is a specialised marketing qualification specially designed for those who are in the sales and marketing field and who wish to upgrade their knowledge and skills for further career advancement. It is also ideal for those without formal marketing training but who wish to pursue a career in sales and marketing.
The objective of the CSM programme is to give students a firm understanding of the principles and techniques of the sales and marketing functions.
All students are required to sit for a written examination for all modules at the end of each term. Students must fulfil the attendance requirement of at least 75% for each module before they are considered eligible to take the end-of-semester examinations.

The candidate will be allowed to sit for the supplementary examination(s) for the module(s) that they have failed in the main examination. However, a supplementary examination fee applies.

To repeat a failed module, a student must attend classes and pay a re-module course fee before he/she is considered eligible to take the examinations.

Students may repeat any single module up to a maximum of two times. However, a student must complete the CSM course within three years of registration, which is from the commencement of the first semester.
Students who have completed all necessary course works, successfully passed all required modules and met all financial obligations to the Institute shall be awarded the Certificate in Sales and Marketing.

Marketing Institute of Singapore Training Centre (MIS Training Centre) is the training arm of Marketing Institute of Singapore (MIS). This programme involves lectures, group discussions, case studies and presentations by students. Classes are usually held two to three times a week.

Entry Requirements

All applicants must possess:

  • 3 GCE ‘O’ Level credits, or
  • 5 GCE ‘N’ Level credits, or
  • NITEC / NTC 2 with at least 1 year of working experience

Those who do not have the above qualifications but have years of working experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Applicants may be subject to an English Admission Test to assess English Language Proficiency.

The Marketing Institute of Singapore Training Centre Academic Board reserves the right to change the above requirements and selection at its sole discretion.

The course fee is at S$3,000.00 (subject to prevailing GST rate).

A non-refundable application processing fee of S$50.00 (subject to prevailing GST rate) is chargeable upon application and submission of documents.

In the event of a failed module, students are to pay a re-module fee and attend classes before they are allowed to submit their coursework for assessment or considered eligible to take the prescribed examination.

Financial Assistance
Funding is available under the Skills Development Fund (SDF), offered by Workforce Development Agency (WDA). The funding is applicable to Certificate and Diploma Part-Time Programmes only.

The general eligibility criteria are listed as follows:

  • Companies must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
  • Trainees must be employed, and are either Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents (PR) of Singapore
  • Trainees must achieve at least 75% attendance for each module, and have sat for all examinations if the course leads to certification
  • Students who are under funding who are attending classes must sign their attendances at all times. The signatures in the attendance must be consistent for all classes. Inconsistent signatures will result in students not receiving funding for the course.
  • Change of employment during the semester is not advisable for students. However, if students are to change employment, they can only do so after their semester has concluded, due to WDA funding guidelines.
  • Funding applications submitted with incomplete supporting documents will be rejected.
  • In the event where the eligibility criteria is not fulfilled, course completion terms and conditions not satisfied or the funding is not approved, the student will be liable to pay MIS Training Centre for any uncollected amounts.

EMPLOYER SPONSORSHIP
The applicant's company needs to fill up Section I of the Student Application Form. Upon which, the company Human Resources personnel or representative will have to submit the grant application on WDA's SkillsConnect System (at www.skillsconnect.gov.sg).
